Can you have a stainless steel dishwasher with a white stove and frig?

I know you can but all of our appliances are over 8 years old. Our white dishwasher just went out and I want to change everything to stainless steel. My husband said we can just get the stainless steel dishwasher and replace everything else as they die out. Wouldn't that look tacky? Tacky is not the word to use, but it wouldn't look right to mix appliances.

1. Generally mixing will not look good. However, if it is an intermediate step toward your goal - do what you need to do.

   Look for a dishwasher that has removable front panels. You may be able to spend a small amount extra for both white and stainless steel front panels - giving you the flexibility that you need.



2. Oh the Horror! Absolutely Not! Why.... either the dishwasher will refuse to work with the older stove and fridge, or they will refuse to work with an upstart newcomer trying to upstage them! How could you even contemplate doing that to appliances that have faithfully served as long as they have???

   Ok... enough silliness... lol

   Yes, of course, the color has nothing to do with the function... you shouldnt be surprised at getting a silly answer regarding 'decor', in the Maintenance & Repairs section, hehehehe.

   Ok, you're afraid it will look 'tacky', if you replace only one item for now. So don't wait for the other items to 'die out'.....either replace them all at the same time (which may not be in your budget), or plan on replacing them one each, as you can afford to (i.e., one this month, another next month).

   Of course, you could always go for the 'eclectic' look, and make each appliance a different color, hehehe.

   I suppose, the question is.... do you want to change over to stainless enough to put up with the difference, temporarily?

3. Oh good grief, of course you can. But before you change to stainless steel you might want to have a look at the stainless appliances that are in the stores. Aren't every one of them covered with fingerprints? IMO white is a color that never goes out of style, costs less and goes with everything. Be sure to get the stainless interior if you're getting a new dishwasher, because they are much nicer and infinitely cleaner.

5. We replaced one major appliance a year, moving from white to stainless.

   This mismatched appliances did look odd for two years, but it was so easy to tell guests, "hey, we're switching over to stainless." This almost always led to a fun conversation where they got excited for how great our kitchen was going to look.

   And now it does look great! I love the stainless look, and they're a cinch to keep clean once you find the right cleaner. I'd do this over again exactly the same way.
