Can you raise/change handlebars on a sportbike without major modification or fabrication?
I bought a beautiful GSX-R and even laying on the gas tank, I can barely reach the grips! Also for the jerk that asked why did I buy it and then ignorantly answered his own question. I'm just getting out of a wheelchair from a wreck 2yrs ago and have difficulty doing a lot of things that I used to be able to do. I was only asking a question, not asking for condescending observations!

- You might have to change the frount forks of the bike. That might fix it dont know how easy or how much it will cost. Maby try http://www.e-bay.com
- go to helibars.com.
- You can search "gsxr bar risers" and find a number of results and reviews. They are relatively easy to fit.
But, why would you buy a bike without at least sitting on it!?
- Why did he buy it without sitting on it? Probably because he wanted a GSX-R. Hardly anybody gets these bikes for any reason except to impress other people. I'm sure he planned on getting a GSX-R before he really learned anything about them.
To answer the question, you can probably move/change the handlebars without any major modification. You may need to get longer handlebar control wires and/or longer cables, though.
- If you change the bars it will change the chemistry of the bike. The handling will be affected. You shouldn't have bought a bike without sitting on it or riding it. You might try a different gas tank before new bars.
