Can a 16-year-old person work at machining company?
I'm a 16-year-old boy seeking for a job. I'm interested about a machining job but I'm not sure that it's legal in California to work at that job at the age of 16.

- Doubtful. You need to have your parents sign a work slip, and it's limited to jobs that could possibly harm you. And that is a place where you could easily lose a finger or two if you're not paying attention.
- Most states require you to be 18 years old before you can operate "machinery".
It has to do with liability and contract law. You can't legally enter into a contract until you are 18 and accepting a job to run machinery is essentially signing a contract allowing the possibility for harm.
