What makes metal jewlery smell and how to u get rid of it?

Have you noticed how some old silver or metal jewlery gets a strong old metalic smell to it? What can I do to get that smell out of some of my necklaces etc, with damaging them? An is there anyting I can do to prevent it happening again. It seems to be pieces that I have not worn for a while. Not tarnished silver, just some metal jewlery gets a bad smell when it has not been worn for a while...thats what I wanna know about.

  1. i don noe y u noe wat they taste like but wen silver is old, u can use special "furnishers" wich u can buy at jewelry stores, but that is to prevent, and wont really repair the damage. sorry.

  2. There is this cleaner available at Wal-Mart, it's in a gray container near the jewelry counter. It's for cleaning silver jewelry, but I use it on my non-silver, metallic jewelry and it works fantastic. The smell goes right away!

  3. Smell bad? That is because the silver items get oxygenated in the air. You need to clean it. You can do it by yourself. It is very easy. Use a piece of soft cloth, extruding some toothpaste on it, and wipe the silver thing. You will find the silver become shining very soon. Then you need to wash it in the clean water and dry it. Now the bad smell disappears. Silver will get oxygenated no matter you wear it often or not. So you need to clean it frequently. Use this way to clean will not hurt your jewelries. If you are a silver lover, I'd like to suggest you those beautiful things which I like so much.
