Can you die from a belly button piercing?

I pierced my own belly button 2 days ago. My friend said I can die from it because it wasn't done by a proffesional. Is that true?

  1. idk but that wasnt smart what you did.

  2. If u didn't sterilze the thing that you used to puncture yourself with, then it could (actually its safe to say that it will) get infected.

  3. you can die if it gets infectected

  4. i know tons of people that peirce their own belly buttons... i don't think you can die from it. as long as you take care of it and make sure it doesn't get infected then it should be just like getting it done professionally. i got mine done last week...you got a lot of balls to do it to yourself!

  5. If it got really infected you could die if you didn't go to a doctor and have it taken care of.

  6. Well, it would be quite an extraordinary case if you died from it (though I suppose it is possible), but do-it-yourself piercings anywhere but the earlobe? Incredibly stupid. Next time, find someone who knows what they're doing, and is using properly sterilized instruments. The risk of complications like infection, etc., is just too great.

  7. Well you can die from anything. You let a random person stab you with a needle? It could get infected, the infection could spread and eventually, if not treated you COULD die.

Most likely you are fine, just clean the area once or twice a day.

I also hope the needle was clean. There is a plethora of things you could catch from a dirty needle and some of those things are deadly.

    Be careful.

  8. i wouldnt have done that! but i dont know to be honest but i would suggest you keep it clean. use piercing solution! it keeps it clean and that way it wont get infected. oh and dont use hydrogen peroxide, cuz you skin will never heal. they told me that when i pierced mine.

  9. Yes it is. It can develop an infection which could spread to your bloodstream in a matter of hours.

  10. I doubt you can die from it..but you can get diseases if you didnt do it correctly. I got my bellybutton pierced by a professional, but it got infected and my body rejected it, it was pretty. So now that its done, take extra good care of it and I hope you sterilized everything before you started.

  11. You should take it out because your risk of infection is high. But don't worry: you can't die from a bellybutton piercing. Your friend is trying to scare you and doesn't know what she is talking about.

If you develop an infection, you will know about loooooong before it could ever kill you (technically, you could get a blood infection).

If you got it done by someone other than a professional, take it out and apply antibacterial ointment to it. Then clean the area and watch for signs of infection (redness, pus). Once it has healed over, have a professional (only!) do it.

  12. well you can die from anything these days.....but seriously if whatever you used was not sterile and you get an infection and dont treat it i think its possible. please stop putting holes in yourself have a professional do it for you

  13. I really dont think to can die from getting your belly button pierced. Well acually you can't. I got mine done professionaly and you can not die. I tryed doing it my self too but I decided to get it done professionaly so it doesnt get infected. I asked the person who did it for advice. You have to take good care of it. If it gets infected take it out and let it close. DO NOT clean it with peroxyde or rubbing alcool. Its not good. You have to clean it with Baxadin, its like peroxyde but its specialy for piercing. Or you can take Sea salt and put it in a cup with hot water, leave it till its all gone and then hold it on you piercing. Also DON'T wash it with soap. Use anticeptic soap, and dont use sented soap. It shouldn't get infected if you do take care of it for about 3 months like that everyday. Don't go swimming in a lake or clorined water for the 4 first weeks. Dont change your ring for the first month. And it should be good. Good Luck!

  14. Yes would be rare, just make sure you keep it clean with salt water soaks (sea salt and boiling water) use it as hot as possible and soak it with cotton pads.

make sure you have a proper barbell in as this makes healing better, if your unsure go into a piercer to get it changed... dont mess about with your body :)

  15. No, not unless you are incredibly dumb.

You would have to develop a severe infection (which, if you did it yourself, I admit is fairly likely). But you would have to ignore the pain, fever, and vomitting for weeks on end before the infection would kill you. You'd probably pass out and be brought to the hospital long before that happened.

So, theoretically, yes. But no one has ever done it.

That said, piercing it yourself was a terrible idea. You should remove it and have it done by a professional.

  16. yes especially if u did it in the wronge place if u have fainted u shud take it out nd go to the docters emidietly
