I love doing graphic arts and designs and I've designed a few peoples myspace pages and but I've never charged for them. Now I have a celebrity who is interested in my designs and she asked what my rates were!! I don't have RATES! I've never charged anyone or even thought about charging. I wanna do it for free but at the same time, if the design gets noticed I wanna be paid for it! What should I do?! She's not a HUGE celebrity with stacks of money. She's up and coming and she will star in the new Bratz movie as Sasha. Someone help me before she passes up the offer!
I can't help you with the charges except to tell you that perhaps you can get some ideas form other than do this all the time. I think most site designers charge by the hour. A group I belong to are charged 35$ an hour for updates and designs. you can use that information or contact other web designers for their charges. Figure your time, and charge accordingly.
Charge a fee. If it was me, I'd charge a reduced one and per hour is right - start placing a value on your time. What you are doing takes skill and is worth more than spending time packing biscuits onto a shop shelf.
Be sure to tell your woman that you are charging very little and it is a great idea about asking her to refer you to her friends.
Get her to e-mail you to thank you for what you have done too. If she becomes the next Angelina a reference like that could open doors for you.
$25 is about £13 now and is a VERY reasonable rate for designing. If you're happy with that then go for it.
