How to make electronic smokes in a model volcano?

I build a model volcano but I wanna make it more realistic,and I think I should make an electronic that produces smoke with just a press of a button.

1. Used to be able to get "modules" that produced smoke for electric powered model "steam" engines

   I fairly certain than all they are are a length of resistance wire, which heats up, and burns/vaporises oil?
