Why does aluminum create sparks when it is heated in the microwave?

Ok, what is it about aluminum that makes it create sparks when it is put in the microwave? Is it made out of something that naturally creates sparks or what?

  1. microwave is a form of light when the light hits the aluminum its frees electrons creating electricity which then moves through the air to create the sparks you see

  2. because it is a metal

  3. microwave ovens emmit micro waves to heat the food. these microwaves are a form of energy. aluminium being a metal has a lower work( i.e on giving energy the valence electrons easily are emitted , this known as photoelectric effect). thus electrons emission produces sparks. i hope you got your answer. were you afraid while cooking?
