I have an electronic device that takes 4 C batteries, Can I rig it up to run off of a 12 volt battery? How?

I have an electronic device that takes 4 C batteries, Can I rig it up to run off of a 12 volt battery so I wont have to change the batteries as often? If so how?

1. If they are in series then 4 C Cells is 6v, so get a 12v to 6v step down and then use crocodile clips or similar to connect to the existing battery terminals. If this is for use in a car they they already make cigarette lighter units which have selectable output voltages


2. You can try using rechargeable C batteries.

   12V is too much. Assuming the batteries are in series, you need a 6V adaptor.
