  1. Start by buying an old car and a welder. It takes a lot of time, hard work, frustration and practice. When I was 16, I got a 1935 Ford pick up (frame and cab). I went to every local car show I could to talk to people and look for parts. I learned a lot from those who would actually help me (far and few between....old guys seem to think that kids cant build cars) and 6 years later I was winning trophies, even a best of show for my truck.

All I can say is practice practice practice. pull dents on friends cars to learn how metal fatigues and stretches. Watch videos, take ROP courses. If you really want to be a car builder, you will be able to do it with time.

Get a job as a clean up kid at a body shop and watch what they do.
