What is the difference between stainlees steel and stainless look on appliances?

We are getting ready to buy a new refrigerator and have narrowed our choice down to a few. There is a 100 price difference between one that is stainless steel and one that is stainless look. What is the difference? In the store we cannot tell any difference. Is it worth the extra money to go full stainless???

  1. The stainless look gets you the look of stainless steel without the price and extra care of the real thing. I'd go with the stainless look! Real stainless steel is going to show fingerprints badly and needs to be cleaned with special cleaners weekly to keep that shine...

  2. 'The Stainless Look' is usually just a silver painted surface & as said above much easier to maintain than the real thing.

  3. I don't think it is worth the money to get the stainless steel. I have a stainless steel look finish on my refrigerator and people love it. A stainless steel one would have to be cleaned more often because finger prints are so noticeable and any scratch would stand out alot. I have a samsung refrigerator and I love it. I payed $700 for it at Sam's club.
